Jason Krog, agent and co-owner of Higher Hockey, began his 25-year professional hockey career at the University of New Hampshire in 1995. After four years, the center immediately made the jump into the NHL and signed with the New York Islanders from 1999-2002. After back-to back seasons with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, the 2004-05 NHL lockout sent Krog on his first tour Europe. He spent a season each in the EBEL, NLA, and SHL before returning to North America, rejoining the NHL with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2005-06. He then had stints with the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks through 2009.
He rounded out his North American playing career by donning the “C” for the AHL’s Chicago Wolves from 2009-2011. Upon his return to European hockey, Krog spent three consecutive seasons with the SHL’s HV71 from 2011-2014. The following season, he saw time in the KHL and EBEL before signing with France’s Rouen for 2015-16. Krog retired from playing at age 41 after spending the 2016-17 season with Lørenskog in Norway.
When Krog and former UNH teammate, Derek Bekar, decided to form Higher Hockey Management in 2014, they saw an opportunity to break into the European hockey market as agents.
“We both had some sub-par experiences with European agents in the past and thought we could be successful by doing things differently. Having an understanding of the level of play and quality of life in these different countries helps us to place the players in the most appropriate situations where they have the best chance to succeed,” said Krog. “Our reputation speaks for itself.”
Krog is a native of Fernie, B.C.
